REGULATIONS FOR EXHIBITORS
1. Doors open at 6:30 am Saturday, and close promptly at 10:30am. Exhibitors need not be members of a camellia society or garden club.
2. This is an A.C.S. cooperative show & an open show. "Camellia Nomenclature" - 2006 edition will be the guide on classification and size. Each named cultivar of camellia japonica, reticulata, hybrid, species, or collection shall constitute a class. Only one entry in each separate class is permitted, except in division S (seedling).
3. Entry cards are available at front of exhibition hall. Please fill out entry cards completely. Correct class and nomenclature, as well as name and address with zip code is important at award time.
4. Judges may enter all classes (except youth) in accordance with the A.C.S. rules governing judges.
5. The youth class is open to anyone age 7 to 18 years. There is a class for youth living in Santa Clara County and a class for youth living outside Santa Clara County. Entrants must register on arrival. Entrants need not own their own plants, But blooms must be picked, prepared, and placed by the youth exhibitor. They must also fill out their own entry card. Entries in this class need not be named. Only adult supervision allowed is by the show committee. Only one entry per varietal class.
6. The Novice Class is open to all exhibitors from Santa Clara County and close areas, that have not won a trophy in any Camellia competition. Entrants must be over the age of 18. All flowers must have been grown by the exhibitor. There is no limit to the number of entries, but only one of each variety may be exhibited. Assistance will be provided to novice exhibitors by members of the Society.
7. Two members of a family living at the same address may exhibit in the same class only if they maintain separate camellia collections.
8. All flowers shall be grown by the exhibitor. The plants furnishing these blooms must have been in the exhibitors possession at least ninety days.
9. Persons holding a commercial nurseryman's license may compete only in division S, (seedlings).
10. A seedling is defined as being a bloom of a plant that has not been distributed commercially, offered for sale, or sold either by the originator or by others. These entries need not be the exhibitors own seedlings, but the award will be given to the originator of the seedlings if at all possible. Gibbed entries are not permitted in this division. Multiple blooms of a variety are permitted and encouraged.
11. Blooms will be placed by the exhibitor, and it is the exhibitor's responsibility to place them on the proper table with their entry card. Containers will be supplied by the show committee for all classes. Also, the show committee reserves the right to move blooms for better placement, to exclude unsuitable material, remove deteriorated material, and to dispose of blooms after the show. They will attempt to reclassify any bloom or exhibit misplaced, and have it judged in the proper class. Any exhibitor influencing judging in any manner will be disqualified.
12. Blooms shall be displayed on their own stem, not over 1" in length, with one or two leaves, which need not be attached.
13. Boutonnieres must be listed as miniature or small in the camellia nomenclature.
14. No place card, sign, or label will be permitted with any exhibit except those supplied or approved by the chairman. The show committee will provide all possible protection, but disclaims all liability for loss or change to the property of exhibitors.
15. There will be a Sweepstakes award this year.
16. Placement for competition closes promptly at 10:30 am. We request your cooperation by leaving the floor promptly at the deadline. Only judges, clerks, and members of the show committee will be on the floor at judging time!

1.Judging will be done in accordance with the ACS document Rules and Regulations Governing Procedures and Judging of American Camellia Society Cooperative Shows Revised January 2007 & Amended February 2008.
